Ingredients:
- 1 lb of your chosen protein (e.g., chicken, beef, tofu), cut into cubes
- 2 bell peppers, cut into squares
- 1 large red onion, cut into squares
- 1 zucchini, sliced
- Your choice of marinade
- Wooden or metal skewers
Instructions:
- Marinate your chosen protein in your favorite marinade for at least 30 minutes. This can be prepped prior to your trip in a sealed container for a more intense marinade.
- If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent them from burning.
- Thread the protein and vegetables onto the skewers, alternating as desired.

Instructions:

- Form into four equal-sized patties and freeze individually wrapped.
- At the campsite, thaw the burgers and cook on a grill grate over the campfire for about 5 minutes each side, or until the desired doneness.
- Just before pulling the burgers off of the grill grate, add your cheddar cheese so that it has a moment to melt.
- Serve on buns with your favorite barbecue sauce and toppings

- 4 sheets of heavy-duty aluminum foil
Instructions:
- Slice off the tops of the peppers and remove the seeds.
- Mix cooked rice, cooked ground meat, shredded cheese, and your choice of spices in a bowl.
- Stuff the peppers with the rice mixture.
- Wrap each pepper individually in foil.
- Cook in the embers of the campfire for about 30-40 minutes, or until the peppers are tender.

- 1 1/2 tbs ground oregano
- 2 cloves of chopped or minced garlic (or sub 2 tsp dried minced garlic if you don't have fresh)
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp olive oil (sub water if you would like it oil-free)
Instructions:
- To prep the sauce, first mix the tomato sauce and paste together in a bowl until you have a smooth texture. Then stir in the remaining ingrediants to complete.
- When ready to serve, roll out your pizza dough on a floured surface.
- Place the rolled-out dough onto a cast-iron skillet dusted with cornmeal.
- Spread a layer of pizza sauce, followed by shredded cheese and your chosen toppings.
- Cook on a campfire grill grate, rotating periodically for even cooking. Cook until the pizza crust is golden and cheese is melted and bubbly.

Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 3 tablespoons of cold butter
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- About 3/4 cup water
- Long, sturdy sticks
- Ziplock bag or other container
Instructions:
- At home, mix the flour, baking powder, butter, sugar and salt in a Ziploc bag or container.
- At the campsite, slowly add water and knead until you have a dough ball that's not too sticky.
- Divide the dough into smaller balls and wrap each portion around the end of a sturdy stick.
- Hold the wrapped sticks over the fire, rotating frequently, for around 15 minutes, until the bread is golden, puffing up and cooked through.
Bannock is a complex vessel in that you can use it for both sweet and savory camping meals. For a sweet treat, try dipping in jelly, sprinkling some chocolate chips on or topping with dried cranberries or other dried fruits. For savory, you can enjoy as-is, spread butter or even use it as the base for your campfire breakfast and top with scrambled eggs.

Pre-marinating your meats ensures you'll have flavorful and tender proteins ready to cook on your campfire. This simple prep is fairly self explanitory, but also a must-have for any camping trip! Let's have a look at our marinade which is made to pair perfectly with the great outdoors:
Ingredients For Our Universal Meat Marinade:
- 3 tbs low sodium soy-sauce
- 1 serrano chile
- 3 cloves of fresh garlic minced
- 1 1/2 tbsp dark brown sugar
- 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 tbsp grated ginger
Other Ingredients:
- Your favorite meats (any meat will work - steak, chicken, pork chops, etc.)
- At home, mix together all of the ingrediates from our marinade. Add your chosen meats, ensuring to completely engulf them completely.
- Leave the marinating meats in a sealed container or a zip-top bag and let them absorb the flavors during your drive out to the campsite (or longer, as desired).
- At the campsite, cook the meats on a grill grate over the campfire until they're done to your liking.
This meta marinade pairs perfectly with a cast iron pot of baked beans for the perfect dinner. Or fire up a steak to serve with some eggs for an upscale camping breakfast.
9. Campfire Nachos
One of our favorite camping snacks! This cheesy, crowd-pleasing dish is easy to make on the campfire and will sure to solve any snack situation.
Ingredients:
- 1 bag of tortilla chips
- 1 can of pre-cooked beans or seasoned meat
- 2 cups shredded cheese
- Desired nacho toppings (e.g., salsa, jalapenos, sour cream)
Instructions:
- In a cast-iron skillet, layer tortilla chips, beans or meat, and cheese.
- Cover the skillet with a lid or aluminum foil.
- Place the skillet over your campfire and cook until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Add your favorite nacho toppings and serve directly from the skillet.

- Fill each apple with a tablespoon of butter, a teaspoon of brown sugar, and half a teaspoon of cinnamon.
- Wrap each apple individually in foil.
- Place the wrapped apples into the embers of your campfire, avoiding direct flames. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until the apples are tender.
If you would like to kick your baked apples up a bit, consider serving over vanilla ice cream with crushed graham crackers and whipped cream on top.
Bonus: Trail Mix
Enjoying your camping trip would feel incomplete if you didn't bring along some homemade trail mix. Here is what we include in our snack mix:
Ingredients:
- Rolled Oats (we liked to support Canadian products whenever we can)
- Dried Fruit (dried cranberry, apple chips, apricots and figs are our favorites)
- Raw Nuts (Almonds, pecans, cashews and macadamia are our go-to nuts)
- Seeds (pumpkin, sunflower and sesame seeds can provide a nutritional boost)
- Spices, seasonings and other fun stuff (depending on the mix, we'll throw some spice add ins or even chocolate chips or our favorite cereal for fun).
You can also add binders like peanut butter, honey and maple syrup to make some simple and delicious homemade granola bars out of your snack mix. Simply add all of the incredients into a candy bar mold or even a muffin tin and voila!
